MEDIA STRIKE

The world is your stage but what are you going to make of it
You get to be a judge or host and you start to spittin venom wit
Your tongue. Spountin all kinds of obscenities
About a woman who worked hard and not trying to please
The masses or even the loud few
So for all the Perez Hilton's of the world this goes out to you
Put your foot in your mouth
Chew on it and be quiet
Put your foot in your mouth
Chew on it and be quiet
Cause if you had something in there you won't say something stupid
Because this style of life Miss America is supposed to bow to you kid?
Boisterous and arrogant demeaning and careening off of the ledge
Just because you don't how to be honest with yourself, don't try and put her on the edge
You asked a question, she answered with an honest answer it was her right choose
But because she didn't say what you wanted…what then she had to lose?
But homeboy don't get it twisted that was the life that you chose
And the world is not gonna fall in line because you write a few prose
Or throw hissy fit because you just can't cope
With the world that you're living in since you know that it’s broke
So-Put your foot in your mouth
Chew on it and be quiet
Put your foot in your mouth
Chew on it and be quiet
Your reaction is so telling of how simple and how fragile one individual can be
When they're screaming about rights, but are too blind to see
That the act they're committing is called Hypocracy
The answer isn't for her to say what you want to hear
It's for her to speak truthfully about what she holds dear.
You ought to be ashamed of yourself and that manipulation
Too bad that it backfired on you…in front of the whole nation.
So to you "Miss America" care of California
You stuck to your guns and I ain't hatin on ya.

Freakin it speakin it
That's just what we do
Putting on the shine
A Yo from me to you
Steppin in the place
Lookin like an oil slick
Ignoring all the haters
Cause their words can't stick
Not for you and not today
While the time it keeps on slippin
Who really cares what you say
But the kids are all trippin
Raising up to fight
But this kid ain't the one
And you just asked for a fight
Bullies are made for graves
Not everyone is forgiving
Think about what you do
If want to keep on living
I was made to survive
And I hope to do great things
So on and on I strive
To let loose so I can sing
You keep trying to pull me back
Because you don't have anywhere to go
So I will ask you one more time
And then I'm gone have to let you know
All the teased unite
Against the common foe
The bullies gotta go. the bullies gotta go
Don't let the cowards gang up on you
Against the many they can't grow
Stronger no longer this will not keep on happenin
I will stand up for myself
and as long as you keep coming
I'm gone keep on scrappin…
Never say die. We will not go quietly into that good night.
Rage.Rage at the dying of the light.
Instead-Make it burn….

you say coward, i would have to agree
see,
it's the little people ego trippin on you
but at the end of the day He,ll always take you thru

sometimes they trip you but only for a minute
just pick yourself up and keep yourself in it

nobody has the power to drop you from His cliff
He can hold you high and keep you adrift

at times you have to show and prove what you're made of
stand your ground and don't you flinch...in the name of love

you are bigger than the little people so go let them know
climb up and take your spot leavin 'em all like whoa

hickory dickory doc
no one can set your clock
you move the dial
you set the alarm
and like boom
you own the city block

I can see the beauty that God put in you
My hope is that you can see that beauty too
You are smart, you are witty you are fun to be around
Some of the things you do bring a lot of people down
You say don't judge, then you hold a grudge
I say these words with conviction and that's why I won't budge

The messenger isn't perfect anyone who knows me can see that
The messenger is concerned about your eternity, where will you lay your hat at?
The messenger wants to be a part of your solution
The messenger is having a hard time wading through your pollution.

The pollution of your mind
The pollution of your whine
The pollution of you thinking that you are always the victim
The pollution of you thinking that you have the right to hit them

One thing is certain, you will always feel pain
Where there is pain, there is something to gain
The pain isn't always just
But pain is a must
Through pain and the pursuit of what's right, is how your dreams become reality

Wrap your arms around it and believe!
Wrap your arms around it and believe!!
Wrap your arms around it and believe!!!!

Then you will have the power to achieve.

The songwriter says, “People make the world go round,”
But sometimes people sure can bring you down,
Turn your smile into a frown-
Make you wonder why you have them around.

But then there are the times they make you smile-
Touch your heart when their love on you they pile,
Give you joy by the mile
Make you realize that having them around is worthwhile.

Everybody has pain.
It comes to us just like the rain.
Sadly, some just folks just won’t refrain
From giving their hurt away over and over again.

We have to bless them and not curse.
Chances are they’ve seen the worst.
And the mess they hand us is not the first
That they’ve given out – nor is it the worst.

They see our joy and want to have it.
They don’t know they can just reach out and grab it.
It’s theirs and ours for the taking-no need to nab it.
We have to MAKE happiness a habit.

Once you know that its up to you
To name it, claim it, seek it for yourself – what do you do?
You find the center of it in the Creator – because He is the one who
Can help you ignore the distractions – and bring you through.

Love people but also let them be
That’s the way to truly be free
We can show them the way – but its not up to you and me
To help them find the joy that we
Have found and have everyday
They have to find their own way.
Be you, be happy – that’s how you lead the way.

Kimeya on a stormy rainy day – clouds in the sky, but not in the spirit! Have a great weekend!

FREESTYLE FRIDAY!!!!! 3/20/09

Alright! Here we go! We're are going to give this a whirl for all the hip hop heads and rap all-stars. This is something I would like to do every week so let me know if you are on board. These are the rules: NO vulgarities, obscenities, or curse words including H*** or D***or A's] keep it clean. This is purely for fun. So if you're down...Come follow me. This is for Friday- just wanted the rules to Show for the new before the trigger happy started Firing off rhymes. So without further
Ado ...

I can’t help but wonder if
When she reaches middle age, like me
My daughter’s mind will be set adrift
On the music I exposed her to – or will she
Prefer the sounds on the airwaves now?
I just can’t see how.
See, I’m not trying to be down
On what today’s generation throws down,
But songs that toss around
Samples from my generations songs
And lyrics that are far from being strong-
I can’t help but think its just wrong.
I’m sitting here daydreaming
About afros, short skirts and platform shoes,
Listening to the Friends of Distinction
“Going in Circles,” “Love or Let Me Be Lonely”
And “I Really Hope You Do.”
Wasn’t music from my X-Generation time,
Rather, just a little after when I was born
But thanks to my parents and their record player
I heard the message in their music and passed it on.
Miles, Coltrane, Dizzy and Satchmo
Before my time, too,
But I’m so glad my ears were opened
To hear them and “Kind of Blue.”
I’m so glad my mom and dad found
Before they knew anything about what South Africa was about
Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masakela
And checked their music out.
I’m so glad I heard the music
And my eyes and ears were opened to it all
So thankful for the messages and the melodies,
I hope my daughter will be also, and that she’ll remember it all.
I wonder if when I’m older
And my daughter takes me for a ride
If she’ll pop in some music that I loved – because she loves it too
To make me smile like my father did with me when I did that – beaming with pride.

Kimeya grooving on the sounds of the past and looking toward the restoration of good music by our neo-soul artists – give them a listen and your dollars!
Have a great weekend!

Such memories of our past are so cool
sounds of youthfulness, freedom, back to school

sitting on the porch or under the tree
sippin lemonade and swattin away bees

i remember my mom's big stereo blasting tunes
we played spades all day until we saw the moon

into the house for more summer pleasure
crabs, shrimps, or maybe even lobster

we lived near the water you may have guessed
and for that experience i am so blessed

memories under the tree eating watermelons
listening to the old folk and their story tellin

jumping ditches, riding bikes, and driving cars
looking up at the same sky to see stars

wolfman jack was once again on the radio a.m.
tellin of crab cracks and oyster roasts again

now smell the cook that's about to jump off
first in line for a hamburger and a crab claw

every moment for me is attached to a music beat
mom's favorites thumps in me like an ice cream treat

so how to you usher in the new and keep the past
my new tunes and hers blend to make my memories last

now i too share all of this with my daughter and my son
while letting them share with me their favorite one's

this cycle i am sure builds life and love in us all
sweetness, connection...just having a ball
